FAQ

Do you accept reservations?

Yes, we encourage them. We do hold several tables for walk-in diners who wish to be on a wait list. Reservations are especially recommended for Friday and Saturday nights when we are busiest. We are normally available to take reservations after 12:00 noon until closing, except Mondays.

Where are you located?

We are located at 8081 Georgia Avenue in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. Our building is situated at the corner of Georgia and Sligo Avenues, and our main entrance is on Sligo. Sligo is approximately 5 blocks south of Colesville Rd., and roughly 6 blocks from the Silver Spring Metro. There is a railroad track underpass immediately in front of our building; Sligo is a traffic light at the north end of this underpass.

Sidebar, our craft cocktail bar, is located within the same building as Jackie's.  It's entrance is immediately to the right of Jackie's main entrance on Sligo.

The Back Room is also located in the same building.  It can be accessed either through Jackie's main entrance, or from the rear door facing Georgia Avenue under the heart shaped Jackie's sign.  We normally use the rear entrance on Georgia when we have live music or other public art & music events.

Is there parking?

There is a municipal parking garage across the street from our entrance on Sligo. Garage parking is free after 7pm. There is also ample metered street parking, free after 6 pm.

Yes, see “rent” page.

Yes, we make it a point to do so.  Our menu varies seasonally, but we always offer a variety of vegetarian courses.  Please ask Chef for special selections.

What is your corkage fee?

Unfortunately, you may not bring your own wine to a restaurant in Montgomery County. It is against the law.

May we take wine home?

Yes, Maryland allows wine “to go.”  The wine bottle must be recorked and placed in either a locked glove compartment, back seat, or trunk. We offer sealed, to go, wine “doggy” bags, and many customers take advantage of this if they do not want to finish a bottle at the table.

Do you have gift certificates?

Yes,  please stop by to pick one up. They can be purchased in the restaurant during operating hours. We also offer sales of gift certificates to those out of town; please contact events@jackiesrestaurant.com for details on how to purchase.

How many seats does the restaurant have?

One hundred: 80 in the dining room and 20 at the bar and lounge.

Can you accommodate large parties?

Yes. We have a recessed semi-private area which can accept 10-12, and can make arrangements for parties up to 20, subject to limitations.

Who are the owners?

Jackie Greenbaum and Patrick Higgins. Jackie’s background is in real estate, Patrick’s is in restaurant management, bartending, wait service, even some back of the house experience. He is responsible for creating our wine and spirit list at Jackie’s. Jackie is the namesake and resident bon vivant.

Do they own any other establishments?

Yes. In 2005, Jackie and Patrick bought the venerable Quarry House Tavern, which was facing closure after a legendary 70 years. A favorite Silver Spring watering hole, the Quarry House has award winning burgers and bar food and an amazing 300 bottle beer list plus 8 rotating draft beers, in addition to 300 whiskies.

In 2010, the owners opened Sidebar, a craft cocktail bar adjacent to Jackie's Restaurant in the same building.  Sidebar offers a distinct menu of small plates and a critically acclaimed cocktail list, as well as complimentary use of a lovely vintage pool table for customers.
